"I don't think we could be friends, because Ronaldo is too boring"

Cristiano Ronaldo has a controversial character. And it's no not just his detractors that use it to bash the Portuguese star, but also some of his ex team-mates, too.

The most recent player to speak about Ronaldo is the Real Betis' Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, who shared a dressing room with the Real Madrid forward at the Bernabeu during the 2009/10 season.

Van der Vaart was speking on NOS in his homeland about Ronaldo and made a surprising comment when asked about their relationship: "I don't think we could be friends, because Cristiano is too boring."

However, he did praise him as a player: "He's a great professional. He's the first out on the training pitch and the last to leave. That's why he's had such a great career."
