Del Bosque: De Gea risks Spain exclusion if he doesn't play

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque spoke to Cadena Cope late on Tuesday night about David de Gea's failed move to Real Madrid from Manchester United.

De Gea was all set for a return to the Spanish capital, but the paper work was not registered on time.

"If I have to say something [to De Gea] I will, but he will learn from this episode," Del Bosque said.

"I want him to play and to be happy; and to play well so I can pick him. If he doesn't play, though, it will be difficult [for him to be picked in Spain squads]."

On Diego Costa, Del Bosque said he was satisifed with his start to the season.

"We count on Costa’s willingness and interest to play for the national team," he said.

"We’re not happy with what he has done so far with us, but he’s done well with Chelsea."

Finally, he was asked about Gerard Pique and how the Barça defender will be treated in Asturias:

"He is a player who knows how to cope with pressure. I hope that Asurias applaud the national team, they deserve it," he concluded.
