David de Gea signs for Real Madrid with Keylor Navas joining Man United

David de Gea has agreed to sign for Real Madrid with Keylor Navas going to Manchester United at the same time.

The goalkeeper has finally got the move he has been praying for all summer, with Real Madrid paying close to €40million - including the valuation of Navas - despite the Spaniard having just one year left on his contract.

Navas is valued at €15m, with Madrid paying €25m and a potential further €5m in variables.

Louis van Gaal removed De Gea from his squad and has kept him frozen out at Old Trafford over the past few weeks.

Victor Valdes has also been told he can find a new club, with Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone the current goalkeepers in the squad.

De Gea was one of the Premier League's best goalkeepers but it is no secret that he has been itching for a return to the Spanish capital, where he used to play with Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United dropped their valuation of the goalkeeper but Real Madrid are still paying an eye-watering amount for a player they could have signed for free next summer.

All that is left is for the paperwork to be completed, with the teams racing against the clock.
