Cordoba's Edimar says he won't hold a grudge against Cristiano Ronaldo

Edimar says he forgives Cristiano Ronaldo for kicking him in Saturday's match between Real Madrid and Cordoba.

Ronaldo was sent off for the incident, but he was lucky to still be on the pitch at that point anyway -- he had previously thrown a fist in the direction of José Ángel Crespo, which the referee missed.

“I expect a normal punishment," defender Edimar said of Ronaldo's potential ban.

"I know Cristiano apologised over social media. On my part, he’s forgiven.

His head was a little hot and he was frustrated because things weren’t going very well for him.

“That’s something which can happen to any of us. I think that’s what happened and that’s all. I forgive him and won't hold a grudge."

The length of the Portuguese's ban has not yet been revealed, but it is anticipated he will miss between one and three league matches for Los Blancos.

Gareth Bale says Madrid are equipped to cope withouth their No7, though.

“[Cristiano’s] red was a disappointment, but I didn’t see what happened so I can’t say any more," the Welshman said.

“The squad is big enough. The team have played games without him before and gone forward.”
