Cordoba replace former Barça player Albert Ferrer with Miroslav Djukic

Cordoba have dispensed of the services of their manager Albert Ferrer with the club sat at the bottom of la Liga.

Mirsolav Djukic, who has previously managed Valencia and Real Valladolid, has taken over as the club's new manager.

After losing at home to Malaga on Saturday evening, the Andalucian club have accrued just four points from their first eight fixtures and have not yet won a game.

Ferrer, a former Barcelona player and member of Johan Cruyff's Dream Team, was only handed the job in February of this year.

After taking charge, he led Cordoba to Spain's top flight via the playoffs, winning a dramatic final against Las Palmas.

The 44-year-old endured a difficult start to life as a Primera Division boss, though, after an opening day defeat at the Bernabeu.

Another side struggling for form, Real Sociedad, are due at Cordoba on Saturday, but Ferrer was not been granted the time to try and turn things around.

Instead Djukic, who has been out of work since leaving Valencia last year, will be tasked with turning around their fortunes.
