Congratulations! Juan Carlos Valeron played his 400th La Liga game

After 16 seasons at the top level, the oldest footballer in Spain's top flight, at 40 years old, equal to the age of Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, Juan Carlos Valeron played his 400th La Liga game.

Valeron featured for Las Palmas against Getafe, his 10th this season, adding to the 36 with RCD Mallorca, 65 with Atletico Madrid and 289 for Deportivo de la Coruna.

He spent 13 seasons with the Gallegan, winning one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.

Valeron wore the Spain shirt 46 times, taking part in the 2002 World Cup and in two European Championships.

Of the current players still active in La Liga, only Joaquin (Real Betis) Dani Alves (FC Barcelona) and Lopo (Deportivo) have played more games than Valeron, who is ahead of players like Andres Iniesta or Sergio Ramos.

However, El Flaco is not the Canarian footballer to have played the most games in La Liga - that's Diego Rodriguez, who played 450 times, 198 with Betis and 252 with Sevilla, between 1982 and 1996.
