Cerezo: Jackson Martinez is the greatest No 9 around

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has claimed that Jackson Martinez is the best No 9 in Europe.

The Colombian striker has been struggling at the Vicente Calderon so far this season, but has been backed by manager Diego Simeone and now the president, who shelled out €35million for him in the summer. 

According to AS, Cerezo said: "Jackson belongs to the rojiblanco squad and he is a great footballer, in my opinion the best number nine in Europe. 

"But you have to give him time, have faith in him, because he hasn’t been at Atlético long. "He’ll grow more confident if we keep on encouraging him when he’s on a bad run. I’m sure he’ll score a lot of goals. No doubt about that."
