Celta Vigo try to close a contract extension for defender Andreu Fontas

Celta Vigo have presented the agent of defender Andreu Fontas with a long-term contract extension, as revealed by club director Miguel Torrecilla this Friday.

"He has received an offer of a contract extension, which would make him a player on a high wage, and this the proposal he has. We are going to see now if we are able to reach a point of agreement and close the extension," explained Torrecilla.

The Celta chief also shared that Celta are in the market for a central defender to compete with Gustavo Cabral, Andreu Fontas and Sergi Gomez.

"We are working to bring in a central defender, who has to be a utility player. The candidates are players who are on the market and in different situations."

At the moment, the club have only closed two deals, bringing in striker Iago Aspas and Danish midfielder Daniel Wass.
