Benitez explains Cristiano and Benzema absences and believes the latter will stay

Rafa Benitez has stated that "the most important thing is footballers' health," after choosing "not to risk Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema," who won't play during the Audi Cup in Munich.

"Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema have not come because they have had some problems this morning. We prefer to not risk them, because the most important thing in the footballers' health. The rest of the squad is here, except for Coentrao as he is injured," explained Benitez in a press conference.

The Real Madrid coach addressed the concept of Benzema leaving for Arsenal: "I believe that he will stay with us, I don't see any reason for him to go. I am very happy with him."

After their tour of Australia and China, Benitez wants balance ahead of the Audi Cup. "I have got excellent impressions of this great squad which has great players. I know that they are competitive, due to how they train, and I love it. From the first moment we have seen the desire to win."

Their first test is a tournament in which big European clubs such as Bayern Munich, Milan and Tottenham will play. "For Real Madrid, the aim is to win every trophy that we compete for. We know that it won't be easy due to the quality of the teams facing us, but it is a great opportunity to show our quality and find form ahead of our first competitive game of the season."

Benitez didn't want to speak about the possible arrival of David De Gea. "We have three very good goalkeepers, it is those that I can talk about, not others." He also mentioned Gareth Bale: "He is an important player for us, I am not going to talk about offers, I know that he wants to play well, he is happy and he is going to have a good season with Real Madrid."
