Bayern 2-1 Atletico (2-2): Simeone's men clinch Champions League final spot

Atletico Madrid are into their second Champions League final in three years after beating Bayern Munich on away goals.

Antoine Griezmann's second half strike proved the vital goal after Saul Niguez's wonder goal had sealed a 1-0 win at the Vicente Calderon last week.

Bayern got off to the perfect start in Germany, taking the lead via a deflected Xabi Alonso free kick which deceived Jan Oblak.

However, they had their head in their hands minutes later when Oblak denied Thomas Muller from the spot after a foul by Jose Maria Gimenez.

Pep Guardiola's side remained the dominant force, but they were caught on the break in the second half.

Fernando Torres fed Griezmann, who had managed to stay on side, and the Frenchman scored the vital away goal, firing past Manuel Neuer.

The hosts battled back, though, and set up a tense finale when Robert Lewandowski headed home on the line to make it 2-1 on the night.

In a dramatic ending, Torres won and missed a penalty as Bayem threw everything forward at the other end.

But there was to be no happy ending for the Allianz Arena crowd as Guardiola's men crashed out to a Spanish side in the final four for the third season running.

He will now leave the Bavarian club having failed to reach a European final, let alone win the trophy, while Atletico will meet Real Madrid or Manchester City in Milan later this month.
