Barcelona want to give Sergi Roberto improved contract to keep him at the club

Sergi Roberto has been one of the revelations of the season for FC Barcelona. The cantera midfielder has passed from one of the players that Luis Enrique rarely used to being a jack-of-all trades for the coach.

This season, the Reus-born midfielder has entered the plans of Luis Enrique as a right-back, obliged to do so by the injury to Dani Alves. It game him confidence and to this day since he has been showing his quality in every game.

The Catalan's performances, in his natural position in midfield, or at full-back or as a winger, have not surprised the technical body who, in summer, convinced him not to listen to offers. The board haven't missed his change in performance either and are looking at a contract improvement.

According to Weloba.cat Josep Maria Bartomeu has already given the green light to a new deal, although without rush.

Sergi Roberto renewed his deal in 2014 and his contract ends on June 2019. His release fee clause is €30m, which could reach €40m with objectives. However, it's a figure that Europe's biggest sides could easily reach, so the club want to secure the player, who could be a big part of Barcelona's future.
