Barcelona 'contact' Mesut Ozil as he ponders future

Mesut Ozil left Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, joinng Arsenal. The objective of the German midfielder was to lead Arsene Wenger's side and help them succeed in the Champions League.

Two and a half seasons later, Ozil is taking stock and has seen he has not been able to help them take a step forward, and is thinking about changing scene.

According to Marca, FC Barcelona have got in touch with the player to find out his plans for the future.

With a contract until June 2018, Arsenal have offered him an extension of two more season. However, Ozil doesn't want to continue at Arsenal, despite being their best player this season.

Although Luis Enrique's priority is not to reinforce the attacking midfield, Barcelona are still interested - they tracked him before he signed for Madrid.

Don't forget the anti-Barcelona clause in Ozil's contract, put in by Madrid when he joined the Gunners, to allow Los Blancos first option on him - which could make things more complicated.
