Atletico's Godin out of first leg clash against Bayern Munich

Atletico Madrid have suffered a huge setback with the confirmation that Diego Godin will miss the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.

The Uruguayan defender was taken off injured during his side's 1-0 midweek win over Athletic at San Mames.

Following tests, the Rojiblanco released the following statement:

"Defender Diego Godin has suffered grade I-II injury in the biceps femoris muscle of his right thigh.”

As well as the home game against Bayern, Godin will also miss this weekend's La Liga game against Malaga and next weekend's match against Rayo Vallecano.

However, Jose Maria Gimenez is set to return, while Diego Simeone also has Stefan Savic and Lucas Hernandez, leaving him with three central defenders.

Godin now faces a race against the clock to return in time for the game at the Allianz Arena on May 3.
