Atletico move towards Martinez deal worth 35 million euros

After signing Luciano Vietto, Atletico are looking to remain active in the transfer market in order to replace Juventus-bound striker Mario Mandzukic.

The first-choice option to step into Mandzukic's place is Jackson Martinez. Portuguese news outlet A Bola have said that a transfer has been done to take the Colombian stirker to Estadio Vicente Calderon for a rumoured sum of 35 million euros. After being turned down by Carlos Tevez, who will rejoin Boca Juniors, Atletico have focused all of their energy on signing the Porto player.

Jackson Martinez has been linked in the past with Milan, but the Colombian is said to prefer the Spanish league and wants to move there after learning of Atleti's interest.

Atletico also offers the chance for Martinez to continue playing in the Champions League, which would not happen at Milan who are undergoing a period of re-construction.
