Atletico Madrid make move for Rennes star Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele’s future is complicated. The talented teenage from Rennes, who is still just 18, continues to accumulate proposals from various European clubs. For a few weeks now, the reports have suggested that he will end up as a Borussia Dortmund player, although now Atletico Madrid have reactivated their interest in him. Not only that, but they have made an offer for him, too. 

Barça are one of the clubs interested in him and a few weeks ago SPORT revealed that Robert Fernandez, the Catalan club’s sporting director, had already negotiated a potential deal with Rennes. However, the player would be more interested in joining a club with an ambitious sporting project where he would play regular football. Given the front three at Barça, that would be difficult at Camp Nou. 

Atletico’s emergence in the bid to lure him away from France this summer could change Dembele’s final decision. The Champions League finalists were previously linked with him in November, although now the club - through their sporting director, Andrea Berta - have taken that interest one step further.
