Athletic Club set to sign Raul Garcia from Atletico Madrid

Raul Garcia is set to sign for Athletic Club, with the Basque team confirming it on Sunday night.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder was left out of the squad against Sevilla for a game his side won 3-0, though he traveled with the team.

Diego Simeone decided not to select the player, presumably so as not to jeopardise the transfer with a potential injury.

Raul Garcia is expected to sign a four-year deal with Los Leones on Monday, after he takes his medical.

Simeone and two of the goalscorers, Koke and Gabi, gave the Atletico No 8 a tribute by holding up eight fingers after their strikes.

The midfielder-cum-target man is a good purchase for a side who can only sign Basque players and therefore occasionally have to recruit players below their quality level.
