Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid will not go out to hold onto their lead against Napoli in the Champions League and will instead try and win the second leg of the last 16 tie.

Los Blancos hold a 3-1 lead going into the game but the Frenchman said: “We always go out to try and play. For us it’s important to play our own game, to play how we know how to play, to try to win the game.

“We’re not going to try and manage the score across the two legs, we’re going to go out and play our game. we will have to suffer, we know that, but we’re prepared for it.

“The Champions League is a big competition that motivates players. we have to use our own motivation and show that.”

Zidane also added that on Tuesday night intensity might be more important than quality, but both would be essential if they are to progress.

“I said that sometimes it’s important to start well, but tomorrow we have to play well for the whole 90 minutes, be intense for the whole game, go out there and suffer and leave everything we’ve got out there,” he explained.

“We have to try and play football and try and be clever too. there’s a moment in each match where you need a bit of quality.”
