Zinedine Zidane claims he didn't see Sergio Ramos handball and playacting

Zinedine Zidane claimed he did not see the Sergio Ramos handball that he should have been sent off for.

The Real Madrid defender had been booked for fouling Leo Baptistao in the third minute, before he handled a Hernan Perez strike midway through the first half.

He fell to the floor holding his face, with the referee tricked by his play-acting into thinking Ramos had not handled the ball.

“I didn’t see it, I thought it was in his face, that he was hit in his face?” said Zidane when asked about it.

The coach was pleased with his men as a whole, not just the goalscorers James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema

“I’m happy but not just with James and Karim’s goals, but with the performance in general, what we did in general. They’re [James and Benzema] players with talent who can make the difference, as they did tonight, but the most important thing was the work of everyone.”

Of Madrid’s struggle to earn victory, he said: “Espanyol were very good, they made it hard in the first half, a little less in the second, but first half they were very good. Away from home games are always tough, but important thing for us is to continue with our own work and try and win the game.”
