Valencia's Garcia Pitarch resigns & is replaced by Alexanko

The sporting director has quit after just one year in his role at Mestalla

Valencia sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has handed in his resignation to the club and he says his decision is “irrevocable”.

The now former Valencia employee indicated that he's informed club owner Peter Lim, president Layhoon Chan and director Anil Murthy of his decision.

Garcia Pitarch did not give details of his decision, which comes one week after manager Cesare Prandelli left the club on Dec. 30.

Better known as ‘Suso’, Garcia Pitarch had been in the role for one year having taken up the job at Mestalla in January 2016.

He will be replaced by Jose Ramon Alexanko, who until now had been running the club’s academy.

The former Athletic Club and Barcelona player first joined the club after working in a similar role at La Masia.
