The Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani has signed a two year deal with Las Palmas, arriving on a free transfer. Aquilani arrives the day after Las Palmas announced the signing of Sergi Samper on loan from Barcelona.

"UD Las Palmas have reached an agreement with Alberto Aquilani, an Italian midfielder with a lot of international experience, for the player to be part of the squad for 2017-2018", the Canary Islands club have announced.

Aquilani, 33, arrives on a free transfer after playing for Pescara and Sassuolo last season, but has spent the majority of his career at clubs like Roma, Juventus and Liverpool. He has 38 caps for Italy, scoring five goals and was included in Italy's squad for the 2014 World Cup.

His signing, and the loan signing of Sergi Samper yesterday, completes Las Palmas' squad for this season although the club's president has not ruled out another signing if something comes up.
