Draws for Deportivo and Leganes ensured their top flight status for another year
Sporting Gijon have been relegated to the Segunda Division despite a 1-0 win at Eibar on Sunday.
Deportivo La Coruna's 0-0 draw at Villarreal moved them on to 33 points, three more than Sporting and their superior head-to-head record means it's the Asturian side who will depart La Liga at the end of the season.
Leganes are also safe after they drew 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao in what may prove to be Ernesto Valverde's last time in the home team dugout at San Mames.
Sporting -- who have Barça's Douglas on loan -- join Osasuna and Granada in the second division next season, both of whom had already been relegated.
