Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone said that it is “normal” that his family know that “some day” he will manage Inter Milan, something “which is not new”, in reference to quotes made by his son, Genova player Giovanni Simeone.

“He’s my son, imagine if we speak or not. It’s normal that my son, my sister, my mum, my dad (…) know that one day I am going to manage Inter. It’s not news and it’s not new,” said Simeone to the second question at his press conference previewing the Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

Previously, on the same subject, he’d said: “I have absolutely nothing to comment on my future because it’s absolutely clear.”

The questions came after his eldest son Giovanni, currently playing for Serie A side Genova, said on Onda Cero on Saturday that his dad is interested in managing Inter “at any moment”. Diego Simeone played for the Italian club between 1997 and 1999 and won a UEFA Cup there.

“The signing of my dad for Inter could happen at any moment. I hope [it happens]. He’s happy at Atletico, I can see that. But it could happen in the future,” said the eldest of the Atletico manager’s sons.
