Keylor Navas errs on first Real Madrid game for four months

Keylor Navas played his first Real Madrid game for four months and made a mistake that cost his team a goal.

The Costa Rican goalkeeper suffered from Achilles problems through the summer and Zinedine Zidane curiously picked this game as the time to recall the star.

Dortmund fired in 20 shots, of which 10 were on target and Navas stopped eight of them. In the second half he made a couple of very good saves.

However, in the first half he punched a Gonzalo Castro free-kick poorly, into Raphael Varane, with the ball bouncing back towards his goal, with Aubameyang on hand to ensure it crossed the line.

Navas spoke after the game, saying: “In the first ball I didn’t see the ball coming. I took a bad decision that cost us a goal. These are things you have to improve. I felt calm playing despite so much time out. Thanks to God I’m back and I hope to keep playing.”
