'I had to listen where Ronaldo preferred to play and after that try to adapt'

Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he had to adapt his Real Madrid tactics to fit around Cristiano Ronaldo. 

The Italian coach won the Champions League in charge of Madrid before leaving in 2015. 

Looking back over his time in charge at the Bernabeu, he’s conceded it was Portuguese star Ronaldo who decided where he wanted to play. 

"At Real Madrid, Ronaldo was the most important player and I had to listen where he preferred to play and after that try to adapt,” Ancelotti said in an interview with the Daily Mail. 

“But it was not so difficult because Ronaldo liked to play on the left side, Benzema was a fantastic striker and Bale on the right — I think it was good.”
