The player, Sevilla and Atletico have all agreed on the deal

Simeone wants him regardless of outcome of transfer ban appeal

Sevilla forward Vitolo Machín has an agreement in principle to join Atletico Madrid for the 2017-18 season.

After four years with Sevilla, there is an agreement between all three parties for the 27-year-old to become the first signing at Atletico this summer.

Regardless of the potential transfer ban, Vitolo was Cholo Simeone's top target. The Argentine coach want to push a deal no matter what happens with the outcome of their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport -- even if it means he can't play until January 2018.

Simeone wants to take advantage of the Spanish international's versatility, given he can play at right-back as well as in a range of forward positions.

Vitolo will cost Atletico 40 million euros, which is the cost of his release clause and there was also some interest shown by Barcelona.

Talking recently, Vitolo said that "if Sevilla intend to sell me, I will accept it, it's a decision between both parties, so we will see. There's still nothing yet."
