An ego that doesn't stop growing: Cristiano Ronaldo's infamous quotes

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo regularly suffers from verbal incontinence when his ego goes for a walk.

All it takes is a little comment, such as former FC Barcelona player Xavi Hernandez saying something as obvious as the fact Lionel Messi is on another level

Ronaldo's subsequent verbal attack on Xavi once again shows that his ego is so big it does not even fit in the garage of the Portuguese's impressive residence in the exclusive area of La Finca.

It's not the first time the 31-year-old has shown narcissism with his statements. There are plenty more examples...

"I'm booed because I am rich, handsome and a great player. They're jealous," he declared after being jeered during a game against Dinamo Zagreb.

"My goal? It's normal when you have my quality," he said after his effort against Roma last season.

After winning the Champions League against Atletico Madrid in the San Siro, the Portguese international said without shame "I am continuing to make history, writing my page in the history of football. I am happy to have won my third Champions League."

A defeat to Atletico Madrid in a league derby at the Bernabeu didn't go down well with him and he questioned his team-mates: "It annoys me that they say Cristiano has dropped his level and therefore so have Madrid. If everyone was at my level, we'd be leading the league."

"I'd give the team a nine (out of 10) and myself a 10." He's always the best on his team. Of that there is no doubt. This is what he said after winning his only La Liga title with Real Madrid.

Annoyed by the MSN's fine performances, he publicly mocked their relationship on and off the pitch in February. "The little meals, the little hugs, the little kisses. To me that doesn’t mean anything. We won the Champions League at Manchester United and I didn't speak with Ferdinand, Giggs or Scholes."

Upon collecting a trophy in Dubai, Cristiano said "my favourite footballer is me."

And, in a clear attack of jealousy, he criticised the decision to name Messi as the best player at the World Cup in Brazil. "If I said everything that I think, I would be in prison. Everyone can see, make their own judgements, the people in the world of football are intelligent. It would be a very interesting question for him. I cannot be honest about it."
