Cristiano Ronaldo's mum sends message after Real Madrid star substituted

Cristiano Ronaldo’s anger at being taken off by Zinedine Zidane against Las Palmas did not go unnoticed. The Portuguese star’s mother has sent a message to her son through Twitter, half encouragement, half demonstrating injured pride at seeing her son substituted.

The message consists of a photograph of the player on the bench once he had been substituted and the words: “Never drop your head.”

It’s that Ronaldo did not take his substitution very well. He walked off the pitch slowly and with an unhappy expression written across his face, just about shaking Zidane’s hand but not looking him in the eye.

He then went straight to the dressing room rather than the dugout, although he did return after that, which is the moment in which he is captured in the photo on his mother’s Twitter page.
