The Barcelona midfielder claims it's best for the country that league matches are played in Spain; AFE doesn't rule out players going on 'strike'

Barcelona's central midfielder Sergio Busquets, who is also the vice president of the Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles (AFE) - or the Spanish Players Association, has declared that all the players are on the "same line" in not wanting to play LaLiga matches in the United States and that to keep the matches in Spain "is the best choice for football".

"We're all united, the union is strong and as our president (David Aganzo) has said, we're all on the same line of thinking. It's a path that we all want to take and we believe it's what best for football," confessed Busquets in a video posting on the AFE's Twitter account.

On the 22nd August, the AFE's president David Aganzo held a press conference where he said the footballers would "see it through to the end" if LaLiga didn't revoke their decision to play an official league match in the United States. He also didn't rule out potential strike action in protest.

LaLiga and the multinational company Relevent announced on the 16th August in a joint communication that the two entities would offer up a single LaLiga match in the United States. And behind this agreement was the league's ambition to expand their global grand across the US and Canada.

This agreement also saw the creation of LaLiga North America, which is owned equally by both parties. This company will be the exclusive representative of LaLiga in the US and Canada so that the deal can develop and focus their efforts in improving the football culture in that continent.
