Sevilla's impressive performance this season has been put down to the work of coach Jorge Sampaoli. The coach has received a lot of praise and has been linked with other jobs, including being the successor to Luis Enrique at FC Barcelona.
Sevilla president Jose Castro explained to El Larguero radio show that the club are trying to tie down the coach for another year. Currently the former Chile national team manager has a deal until summer 2018, but the club's intention is to extend that even further. "We have offered another year of contract to Sampaoli," said Castro.
He also pointed out that "his release fee clause currently is 1.5m euros" - the amount Barcelona would have to pay if they approached him.
