At Atletico they are not just waiting for Diego Costa and Vitolo. 53 days from being able to add that duo, the Rojiblancos, deep in the worst run of form in the Simeone era, are looking at the market for new signings for the winter and summer windows.
Two names have come out in the English media; Man United's Ander Herrera, and Arsenal's Mesut Ozil. According to AS, Atletico have the OK from Simeone to sign Ander Herrera in the summer when his contract ends at Manchester United.
The former Athletic Bilbao player arrived at Old Trafford in 2014 for 36 million. He has lost his place in Mourinho's side since Nemanja Matic arived and Simeone can give him minutes. In January he can start negotiating a deal.
The other objective is Ozil. Per English reports, to renew with Arsenal - his contract runs out in June - he wants an improved salary (8m euros) and the No 10 shirt, which Jack Wilshere has. Atletico can tempt him with 10m euros plus a bonus of 5m, according to reports.
