Griezmann double eases Atletico Madrid past Valencia in La Liga

Simeone's boys are back into the top four after this professional display against an improved Valencia

Antoine Griezmann opened and closed the scoring as Atletico Madrid beat Valencia 3-0 to move back into the Champions League places.

Real Sociedad jumped above Diego Simeone's side on Friday night, but Atletico responded by picking up three points with a professional performance against Valencia.

In between the two Griezmann goals, his strike partner Kevin Gameiro was also on target.

With Fernando Torres in the stands at the Vicente Calderon, now recovering from the scare he received at the Riazor in midweek, Atletico played with more intensity than their opposition.

Voro -- who is in charge until the end of the season after Ayestaran and Prandelli were sacked -- admitted as much after the game.

Atletico remain 11 points behind Barcelona, though, and their hopes of winninf the title may have vanished for this season, despite this result.
