The French forward extends his stay after Atletico were banned from signing

Until the CAS decision, Griezmann had appeared set to move to Man United

Antoine Griezmann has extended his contract with Atletico Madrid. The French forward will remain linked to the club until 2022, ending any lingering doubts about his future this summer following Manchester United's interest.

Griezmann signed a new deal last summer, too, but has now signed new terms with an even higher salary following the offer which was on the table from Old Trafford.

The forward's situation took a radical turn following the CAS' decision to leave Atletico's transfer ban in place this summer. Until then he had looked set to move to United, but just a few days later he confirmed he couldn't leave the Rojiblanco while they're facing a transfer window without being able to sign players.

It was Griezmann himself who had appeared to suggest he was off in a television interview in his homeland. He said there was a "six out of 10 chance" that he would head to the Premier League side.

Everything looked in place and Atletico were being linked with Lacazette, Diego Costa and Vitolo as potential replacements.

However there was to be one final turn and it took place after the CAS rejected Atletico's appeal, with Griezmann saying on social media that he was now "more than ever Atleti".
