Pep Guardiola confirms Manchester City want Sane and Stones

Pep Guardiola didn't hesitate when asked about his interest in signing Leroy Sane or John Stones for Manchester City.

The Catalan spoke in the aftermath of City's friendly win over Borussia Dortmund as the club continue their preparations for their first season under the two-time Champions League winning coach.

"[Sane] is a Schalke player, if he joins us we'll be happy," the 45-year-old began, "But if he stays in Germany I'll be happy for Schalke fans.

"It's the same answer for Stones, he's an Everton player. Everyone knows I'll try [to sign him], but we'll see.

Guardiola also mentioned players already in the City squad including Samir Nasri who, after being labelled as "carrying a bit of weight", didn't play any part against Dortmund.

"Last season, [Nasri] lost almost a year and we don't want that to happen again. He has to be fit."

The former Barcelona player and coach also stated his ambitions of bringing the Premier League title back to the Etihad Stadium, adding to his six league titles won in Catalonia and Bavaria with Bayern Munich.

"We want to train well and play two more friendlies before [our Premier League opener] against Sunderland, then we'll see the condition of the players" Guardiola concluded.

"I want the fans to know that they can be proud of these players, each of them are trying to learn in every training session and are fighting [to achieve more success]."
