Iniesta: I gave Arda Turan encouragement after the game

Voted man of the match for a second consecutive game, Andres Iniesta put aside his joy of helping Spain reach the European Championship round of 16 by comforting friend and Barça team-mate Arda Turan.

Friday's game saw Turkey lose again in Group D as they went down 3-0 to the Roja, with Arda having another poor performance in what has been a difficult year for the 29-year-old.

"It's hard to hear the whistles of your own fans, I know it's very bad for Arda because he's a player with a high level and quality," Iniesta began, "I gave [him] encouragement after the game and wished him the best... he's my friend."

Iniesta had another marvellous performance for Spain in central midfield, and his perfectly weighted pass into Jordi Alba after 48 minutes was enough to carve open Turkey's defence for Alvaro Morata to eventually score his second of the game.

"I'm enjoying [Euro 2016] because things are going well," the 32-year-old concluded.

"The level of the players is still very high and the team is good. We must seize the moment but we haven't [won] anything yet."
