Diego Reyes prefers staying at Porto to Espanyol

The Mexican defender has ruled out a return to his former side

He says he wants to earn a place in the team in Porto

Defender Diego Reyes has said in Mexico that, ahead of next season, his head "is at Porto" and that he is not thinking of going back to Espanyol, where he was on loan last season.

Speaking at a promotional event he said that "I want to win myself a place" in the Porto team. 

"I am happy and content to return to a side that gave me the chance to go to Europe and I should give them back what they gave me."

Espanyol's sporting director Jordi Lardin said previously that his side would not throw in the towel when it came to trying to bring Reyes back, although they are studying alternatives. Their are looking for two more central defenders, or one and a midfielder. 

Reyes played 34 games in La Ligal ast season for Espanyol, starting all but two.
