Barcelona players ran much more than their Madrid counterparts

Sergi Roberto, Rakitic and Alba all covered more than 11 kilometres

They arrived at the Bernabeu under more pressure, but also more tired, because Real Madrid had played their Champions League game on Tuesday (admittedly with extra-time) while Barcelona had played on Wednesday, leaving them with one day less rest. But, despite that, the Barça players ran more than Madrid's on Sunday.

La Liga has released the official data from the game, detailing the distance ran by each player and their top speed. And the rankings are led by Barça players. Keeping in mind that Madrid had 10 players for the final 15 minutes, the overall totals are: Madrid (98.75 kms) and Barcelona (105.46 kms).

On an individual level, the players who ran the most kilometres were Barça players. Sergi Roberto (12.07 kms) topped the charts, with that total obviously including his spectacular run in the build up to Messi's goal in the final minute. After him comes Ivan Rakitic (11.48 kms) and Jordi Alba (11.30 kms). Madrid's top runner was Toni Kroos (10.93 kms), followed by Dani Carvajal (10.29 kms) and Luka Modric (9.72 kms).

Surprisingly, the player who hit the top speed was Gerard Pique (33.33 km/ph). After him, though, there were five Madrid players: Marco Asensio (33.22), Cristiano Ronaldo (33.14), Mateo Kovacic (32.98), Toni Kroos (32.78) and Carvajal (32.76). After those five came the match-winner, Barça's Lionel Messi (32.59).

The three slowest players were: Andres Iniesta (28.67), Nacho Fernandez (28.63) and Rakitic (27.87).
