Serie B to adopt new green card for fair play

Serie B has started a new "green card" scheme to help promote fair play.

The Italian second division is going to give the card to note sportsmanship and significant acts of virtue.

They hope the scheme will 'highlight those who help to make the game a game and not a battle of primal instincts'.

There is no actual reward for getting green cards although a table will be compiled at the end of the season of which teams and players have the most.

Andrea Abodi, the president of the division, said: "We're trying to recompensate the sports stars that behave positively during the game and in sport in general."
