Juventus' Higuain responds to criticism labelling him 'fat'

Since he arrived at Juventus, Gonzalo Higuain has been the subject of criticism due to his physical condition.

Some people have said the Argentine goalscorer is fat, claiming he looks like an ex-footballer who’s piled on the pounds.

However, Higuain’s not let it get to him and responded with a goal on his Serie A debut for his new side against Fiorentina at the weekend.

“It is better if you keep saying I'm fat, I will continue to score goals,” he told Tuttosport after the 2-1 win.

“Come on, I'm fine, I have trained for 20 days and I honestly do not understand all this interest on my condition.

“It doesn’t bother me because I’ve never had doubts about by quality.”

Of his debut, he added: “I always dreamed of a night like this, being able to help the team with a goal on my debut and hearing the fans chant my name.

“When you feel the support of the fans, inside your desire grows in an even more special way. That goal was for the fans and for everyone who’s always been with me.”
