The 18-year-old is out of contract in 2018 and can leave for free

Madrid and PSG are two clubs interested in the Italian international

Gianluigi Donnarumma will not renew his contract with Milan which ends next season and will therefore be free to leave the club in 2018. After months of talks with his agent Mino Raiola, the Italian club have thrown in the towel and confirmed that the teenage goalkeeper will not sign a new deal.

Milan CEO Marco Fassone called a press conference on Thursday to confirm the news, saying he preferred to tell the press of the developments rather than to release a statement.

“Raiola has informed us that Donnarumma has made a definitive decision not to renew his contract with Milan," Fassone said. "It is a definitive decision, made by the player.

“Ten days ago [director Massimiliano] Mirabelli made a very good proposal to the player, one even stronger than the reports that appeared in the various papers.

“The player evaluated it and made some evaluations that were not just economic, but also technical and professional, and he told us that he does not wish to renew the contract, so his time with Milan will therefore conclude by June 30, 2018."

Attention now turns to Donnarumma's future. Milan may look to sell him this summer but it's more likely he will leave for free next year when his deal expires.

Real Madrid have been linked with an interest in the 18-year-old keeper and may wait a year for him rather than going back in for David De Gea this summer. Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the Italy stopper.
