"I had offers from abroad where I could have earned much more"

"Now I'm just focussing on Milan and Juventus is in the past"

The Italian international Leonardo Bonucci, who signed for Milan from Juventus this summer, says he had big offers from other European clubs but chose Milan because of their “more ambitious” project.

I decided to come here because they have a more ambitious project," Bonucci added. "It’s not a question of money. I would tell anyone who calls me a mercenary that I had offers from abroad where I could have earned much more,” Bonucci told La Gazetta dello Sport.

The Italian defender, who was rumoured to be a target for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, thinks he can win titles at Milan, “Within four years, I hope to win the Champions League. I want to win everything. I hope to do at Milan what Pirlo did at Juve, just the other way around”.

El defensa italiano, que en el pasado fue situado por varios medios internacionales entre los objetivos de mercado del Manchester City del técnico catalán Pep Guardiola, ha visto en el Milan la oportunidad para conquistar grandes trofeos.

With regard to his time at the ‘Old Lady’. Bonucci admitted he left because he had a “different vision” to that of the manager Massimiliano Allegri. “Now I’m just focussing on Milan and Juventus is in the past. I thank them for all that they gave me -- I became one of the best defenders in the world with them. The club and Allegri took clear decisions and I acted in response,” the Italian said.
