Barça continuing to follow Fiorentina's Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso has returned to Barcelona's orbit. ESPN Italia say that Barça have intensified their interest in the Fiorentina left-back ahead of the summer transfer market. SPORT had already revealed a few months ago that the Spanish player was liked by Barça's scouts after evolving so much in recent seasons. Alonso can play as a left-back, a left sided centre-back or in midfield.

Barça have had him watched in several matches this season, both in Serie A and in the Europa League. They believe he's a good player, but they have not been convinced he will fit into the side's style. Alonso usually plays in a system with three centre-backs and Barça aren't sure how he would adapt to a back four. Despite that, he is one of the names on sporting director Robert Fernandez's table.

Alonso renewed with Fiorentina earlier this year. He was set to be available for free this June, but decided to extend his contract with the Italian club. It's anticipated his market value is around 12 million euros and there are also several Premier League teams following his progess. Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque has also said he's had him watched with regards to an international call up.
