Alves: It would be an honour to play with Mascherano at Juventus

Brazilian defender Dani Alves was presented as a Juventus player on Tuesday in Turin, where he gave his first press conference since officially signing for the Serie A champions.

During that press conference, he didn’t rule out a potential reunion with Javier Mascherano in Italy, who is wanted by Juve this summer

Alves had no problem speaking to the Italian journalists about Mascherano: “He’s one of the players that I speak to most about football, it would be an honour for me to play with him here.”

However, he nuanced that he’s not aware of the conversations which may or may not be ongoing, stating just that he’d welcome the Argentine with open arms if he decided to leave Barcelona.

He added: “If I could experience this adventure with him, it would be an honour. He’s a great player, with a great spirit to always do things well - but it’s not down to me.”

Mascherano, who after losing the Copa America final announced his retirement from international football with Argentina, has an offer on the table from Barcelona, who have told him that, despite Juve’s interest, he’s untransferable as far as Luis Enrique’s concerned.
