Thiago Alcantara's stunning pass helps Bayern beat Hamburg late on

Arguably the pass of the season from Thiago Alcantara helped Bayern Munich maintain their 100 per cent record at the start of the new Bundesliga season.

They have not dropped points under Carlo Ancelotti but came within two minutes of doing so against a brave Hamburg that battled Bayern until the end.

Rene Adler made several spectacular saves from the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Joshua Kimmich, but in the end the 21-year-old got the better of the stopper.

It took a spectacular intervention from Thiago, who volleyed a clearance into the path of Ribery, with a pass that swerved beautifully for the Frenchman, who set up Kimmich to finish at the back post.

Asked about the pass by Sport, Ancelotti said: “Thiago found a fantastic solution for Ribery.”

Bayern Munich take on Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night in the Champions League at the Vicente Calderon.

“I rotated the players because we played on Wednesday night [against Hertha Berlin], all the players didn’t recover, so I tried to make everyone fresh,” explained Ancelotti after the game.

“Robben is a bit different recovering from an injury so you have to be patient with him.”
