Soriano's Leverkusen move could set up Barcelona reunion

Soriano's Leverkusen move could set up Barcelona reunion

Jonathan Soriano is set to become the latest player in the door at Bayer Leverkusen.

Talks with Red Bull Salzburg have progressed well and Leverkusen's manager Roger Schmidt, who worked with Soriano in Salzburg previously, expects the deal to be completed soon.

At 29, Soriano sees the move to Germany as the perfect opportunity to move his career forward. The German side are in the Champions League, where they will meet Barcelona in the group stages.

It could, therefore, throw up an interesting reunion in Group E. Soriano previously played for Barça B and was once included in the first team squad, during Pep Guardiola's reign, for a Copa del Rey match.

Luis Enrique was his coach at Barça B and a meeting at the highest level of European football would make for a nice story.

In Austria, Soriano has scored 91 goals in 87 games during the last two seasons and he will compete with Stefan Kießling, Admir Mehmediand Robbie Kruse for a starting spot at Leverkusen.
