Vidal was sent off as Real Madrid went on to win the game in extra-time

Arjen Robben was critical of the referring performance as Bayern Munich were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Bayern saw Arturo Vidal sent off before Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals from offside positions after the game had gone into extra-time.

The Bundesliga side were upset by the second card received by Vidal, Ronaldo’s goals and a number of other decisions on the night.

“You know in my opinion what I think is it’s a shame that you see such a great game, everyone in the world, neutrals, Madrid fans, Bayern fans, see great match,” Robben said in an interview with Viasat Fotball.

“It was two top teams, a joy to watch. And then a game like that is being decided by crucial decisions by referee.

“Normally I don’t like to talk about referee, normally you have to look at yourselves and the mistakes you make, what you’ve done wrong, but in this case it’s not one, it’s more crucial decisions which decide a game.

“And that’s a shame because it was an advertisement for football decided by someone with a whistle.”
