Robben and Lewandowski KO: Bayern's injury crisis ahead of Barcelona clash

The joy didn't last long at Bayern. The returns of  Schweinsteiger, Robben and Benatia to action had invited thoughts that the club's injury crisis was nearing an end.

But it's not worked out like that. On Tuesday against Borussia Dortmund their bad luck returned with two important players picking up knocks: Robben and Lewandowski.

The former, who had returned after five weeks out, was injured just seven minutes after coming on.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, received a blow to the face which broke his jaw and his nose and could hamper him paying against Barcelona next week in the Champions League semi-final.

With these two new injuries, Bayern still have a lengthy list of absentees:

Franck Ribery

Injured his ankle against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on March 11. He's nearing a return to action, but there is no set date.

David Alaba

Has been missing since March 31 following a knee injury picked up playing for Austria. His expected return date is May 14, which would rule him out of both matches against Barcelona.

Tom Starke

Injured on April 5. The goalkeeper's elbow ligaments are the problem.

Holger Badstuber

The defender got injured on April 21 in the Champions League match with Porto. He will miss the rest of the season.

Arjen Robben

The Dutchman returned on Tuesday night after being out of action since March 22. However, he picked up a new injury against Borussia Dortmund and Bayern have confirmed he will miss the rest of the season.

Robert Lewandowski

Dortmund's Langerak caught him in the face on Tuesday, breaking his jaw and his nose. The club have not specified how long he'll miss, but he's a doubt for Barça.

Bonus:

Javi Martinez

The former Athletic man was injured way back in August in the German Super Cup. He suffered ligament damage in his knee. However, he has now received the medical all clear. He will be lacking match fitness when the Barça games roll around, though.
