The winger could make a return to his homeland next summer

Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic admitted interest

Bayern Munich want to rejuvenate their squad. After several big moves last summer, the club are now looking for the heir to winger Franck Ribery, which is not an easy task.

Everything suggests that the chosen one to replace the 34-year-old Frenchman next summer will be Julian Draxler. Paris Saint-Germain's German forward impressed in his homeland with Schalke and Wolfsburg and maintains a good reputation in the Bundesliga. Draxler joined PSG in January but his role has decreased since the signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The interest in Draxler was more or less confirmed by the club's own sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, who said in an interview with SportBild that "he's a player that fits what we're looking for."

CHANGE OF CYCLE

Bayern's move to freshen up their squad is evident. Last summer, without looking any further, they spent money on Corentin Tolisso (22 years old -- 41.5 million euros from Lyon). But they also made Kingsley Coman's (21 years old, -- 21 million from Juventus) move permanent after a successful loan spell.

Niklas Süle (21) left Hoffenheim for 20 million euros, as did his teammate Sebastian Rudy (27), albeit for free. Bayern also spent eight million euros on Serge Gnabry (who is now on loan at Hoffenheim) from Weder Bremen.

It's all a statement of intent from the German champions, who have lost a number of players in recent years. Lahm and Xabi Alonso have retired, while Douglas Costa moved to Juventus. Now, Ribery and Arjen Robben are coming to the end of their playing careers.
