YES: From the best team to the best squad

FC Barcelona has gone from having the best team to the best squad, with the clear objective of winning the treble again.

Last season, Luis Enrique's side suffered a terrible drop (physically, spiritually and in a football sense) in the month of March which left them knocked out of the Champions League, and almost cost them the league.

With the reinforcements of this summer, the manager has a greater depth at his disposal to be able to rotate with quality replacements, and give rest to the starters, who arrived to the home stretch of the season burned out.

The signings of Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne, Denis Suarez, Andre Gomes and Paco Alcacer improve the competition in the squad as they serve to back up vital positions in the team. Possibly the only doubt is the role of Jasper Cillessen, who has to show that he is better than Claudio Bravo.

The investment of 122 million euros made this summer has served to provide Luis Enrique with what he wanted. Now the coach has no excuses not to win everything. At least, on paper, the Asturian boss has the best squad since he arrived at the Camp Nou dugout.

We shall see if he is able to take advantage of it.
