Xavi: "It would be a dream to coach Barcelona with Gerard Pique as president"

The midfielder gave an interview to COPE and revealed he had been thinking about Pique's grand-plan for the future

Xavi Hernandez spoke on Spanish radio station Cadena COPE on various subjects.

One was the contract situation Lionel Messi is going through. "I have contact with Leo Messi and see he is happy, I see he is content. I have not spoken about his renewal but he knows that Barcelona is the best club in the world for him and I don't see him going anywhere else. If I have to bet, I would not bet Messi at any other club."

The midfielder pointed out that Clasicos are hard to predict. "Clasicos are different games. You can be 20 points away from Real Madrid and have a great game, or they can, it doesn't signfy anything that Barcelona were not good at Anoeta."

However, Xavi added: "Maybe there's a bit more pressure on Barcelona as they are six points behind in the table."

Xavi spoke about Andres Iniesta too. "Iniesta is a transcendental player for Barcelona. They say the team has less control, less poise, he will give them it."

Finally, regarding Gerard Pique and his ambition to be the president of the club, he said: "I see Pique with the capacity to lead. He gets all that he goes for."

Asked about if he would like to coach Barcelona with Pique as president, Xavi replied: "There's a lot of talk... it would be a dream. It's an idea that I have in my head."
