Xavi: Verratti would be the ideal signing for Barcelona in my opinion

Xavi Hernandez says Marco Verratti would be a success at Barcelona amid continued reports that the Catalan side are interested in the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder. 

The Italian international will be part of a PSG team Barça are looking to beat at Camp Nou on Wednesday after being humbled 4-0 in the first leg. 

No side has ever come back from that deficit in the Champions League — that’s the scale of the task facing Barça. 

Further down the line, however, Verratti has been linked with a move to the Blaugrana, tipped as the perfect player to follow in the footsteps of Xavi and Andres Iniesta. 

“Verratti would be the ideal signing for Barcelona in my opinion,” Xavi, now playing his football in Qatar, told Le Parisien. 

“I think Verratti is a bit like me. He always goes in search of the ball quite deep on the pitch and then takes it forward and dictates play.

“Verratti is small just like me and he never loses the ball. His technique is incredible.

“He is a player I would love to see at Barcelona.”
